An annual music and arts celebration at Dzaleka Refugee Camp, Malawi, Tumaini Festival is an innovative cultural event which uses entertainment and artistic expression to promote intercultural harmony, mutual understanding and peaceful co-existence. Tumaini Letu is a Dzaleka Refugee Camp-based organization founded in 2012 by Trésor Nzengu Mpauni. Also known as Menes la plume, he is a refugee poet, musician and writer from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). ‘Tumaini Letu’ is Swahili phrase that means ‘our hope’. Tumaini Letu’s main project so far is the annual Tumaini Festival. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 festival has been postponed until November 4-7, 2021 but you can still visit the Facebook page to learn more, offer support or stay informed.
